We Are the World
Oh, how little I was when this lil tune hit the airwaves...
But I was no fool. I'd seen Motown 25 and that beautiful man who seized my 3-year-old heart.
I remember once, wearing my mom's blue velvet clogs she had wore to her high school graduation. They made me tall enough to mess with her jewelry and things on her dresser. This is also where the radio speakers were. She was cleaning I believe.
I was likely being super adorable and making a mess of her things when We Are the World came on. Boy, do I remember how excited I would get! I'd listen and hum along, singing the words I knew, until Michael's section came on. There he was, my King even then. And I leaned in, and kissed the speaker!
I don't kiss speakers anymore. But my childhood lips has kissed casettes, vinyl album covers, probably t-shirts... even so young, I must have been, what 4...? at most 5...?
So cute I must have been. I wish I could visit that little girl. I'd talk all day with her about you.
